My husband and I recently found a bat (that we named Bruce Wayne) clinging to the wall of a building. The intention was bring him home to show the kids a real live bat and then release him once the sun went down.
When we got home, we put him in the bathroom and let him out of the box onto a towel. He crawled around all cute and the kids LOVED getting to peek at him. He didnt go too far.. just did a little round trip on the edge of the tub on the towel and back and then onto the shower curtain.
We decided to turn off the light and close the door so that he could relax a little bit.. Everything was sealed up.. the vents were too small for him to crawl into... everything was good!
So then about 10 minutes later we went back in to check on him. Hes NO WHERE. We slowly lifted the towel.. slowly opened the shower curtain.. checked in every nook and cranny and still nothing. Then I heard some banging around. Oh no! My husband and I shushed and sure enough we look down and we hear the sound coming from the vent. Hes walking around in the vent! Hes walking around the house! He could go anywhere! This freaked me out because.. you know.. possible RABIES..
So we ran to the bottom (4th floor) of our house and followed the vent.. Ok.. hes heading to my exercise room. So we ran into that room and my husband lowered a cloth belt down that vent to help him climb out. After about 2 minutes, sure enough he climbed up it.. Good boy! So then we fed him some meal-worms that we picked up for him (he was a hungry boy!) and then released him on his way!
